Creepy Changeling

a mother's love is a powerful one.

remember jodie foster in that flick flightplan where she lost her kid on the plane? or julianne moore's alien movie the forgotten when her kid got abducted? and finding nemo - oh, wait. that's father's love. and rene russo's character in 'ransom'. mother's love, people.

changeling is centred around just that. mother's love. i watched brad pitt's benjy button last, so now i'm giving mrs pitt a go, watching *changeling.

do you know that a *'changeling' is a creature found in folklore - it is typically described as being the offspring of a fairy, troll, elf or other legendary creature that has been secretly left in the place of a human child. a human child might be taken due to many factors: to act as a servant, the love of a human child, or malice. most often it was thought that fairies exchanged the children.

i enjoyed changeling. i keep wanting to see what would mrs collins do next, or what would the police do to her next, or whether the reverend (played charmingly by an awesome actor, malkovich) would come to the rescue. and that's enough to keep me glued on. also it's kind off creepy when the 'changeling' boy tried to be walter while jolie's character looked on, suspiciously.

by the way, is this movie going to play in malaysia? because, well, you know. pause. you knowwwww.

police? helllloooowww?

you don't know.

never mind.

*syida buzzed me and said it has been playin in malaysia for quite some time now. ketinggalan betul.

me cry?
my emotions run high throughout the movie, but not enough to make me cry, unlike when i watched ben affleck's 'gone baby gone'. these two movies display the same sentiment - loss of a child, mystery that surrounds it, the discovery of lies upon lies and truths upon truths. simply because you want to know what happened to the kid.

however the really touching moment was when mrs clay called to say "they've found a boy" and mrs collins rushed as she thought it might be walter, and turned out it's another boy with a very life-changing story. when the boy was reunited with his family as mrs collins looked on longingly - here comes the waterworks!

angelina jolie
jolie is fantastic as the distraught mother - (but not fantastic enough right, coz she doesn't make me cry...) i always see her as a tough-chick, feminist character like lara croft, mrs smith, the assassin in wanted, even a tough master tigress in kungfu panda! so to see her in this fragile, scared and confused 1920-s mother is refreshing. but in true jolie spirit, this mrs collins too, held her own and did become a tough chick. hey, it's jolie. of course.

my final word is : go watch it.
for the mystery and the fight for justice. for jolie's coy performance. for malkovich's cool. for her fantabulous looking lips...ha ha.

alright.
daymn, i'm such a couch potato these days.

i'm off to watch adam sandler's bedtime stories again. i just need something fun and silly to watch after the mystery-drama. see ya!
